Key Social Media Trends: “The State of the Union” for #PRSA

marketing and business,social media tips — ramseymohsen @ Wednesday, May 16th, 2012 - 12:35 am

Today I had the privilege of being asked to speak and share my thoughts on social media and it’s current “state of the union” (if you will). The #PRSApd event was interesting- it unexpectedly (the event organizers did not know this would happen) was in an underground basement with no cell phone reception- which certainly made for an interesting ‘no Tweets’ presentation!

If you’re interested here is the PPT slides I shared at the session:

Ok- this is just too cool, i had to share it. There’s a new photo panoramic app i’m obsessed with called Dermandar. And while at dinner in between sessions at the #BigOmaha tech conference, my friends and I took this picture (you must click to enlarge it- watch how amazing it is!).

Did you click to enlarge it?

ISN’T THAT COOL!?!

The simplest app to make quotes into pictures.

I’ll be honest- when i start using an App I like …i use it as much as I can (pretty much until i get tired of using it). That said, lately- I’ve been a fan of a really simple to use text to picture app called Tweetgram. It’s straightforward: type your text, choose a design template, and then you can publish it to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

Here’s some inspirational quotes (favorites of mine) I’ve been sharing using the App.

This is the best Android phone I’ve ever used… the HTC One X

tech news & insight,Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 - 9:01 am

I had a chance to get my hands on to the new HTC One X (thanks AT&T!). This phone is damn impressive. Here is my opinion why

The screen is arguably the clearest screen I’ve seen since the iPhone retina display.

HTC One X unboxed

It’s not thicker than the iPhone.

8MP rear facing camera sounds impressive, but the photo quality is not.

HTC One X

As you can see, it’s a little larger than the iPhone- but not huge.

Even though it’s plastic, this is the nicest designed Android phone i’ve seen.

My first time …geocaching for charity! #KCCacheDash

Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 - 8:56 am

Here is a fun v-blog I shot when I was on my first geocaching adventure with @bestofjess for KC Cache Dash (charity event by Garmin & Aristocrat Motors) here in Kansas City. I had no clue what to expect- and I had a blast learning how to geocache! Check it out… (click here if you can’t see the video below)

We made it to the National Championship! [VIDEO/PHOTOS]

Personal stuff,photos by me,Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Sunday, April 1st, 2012 - 10:23 pm

This past weekend, my friends and I made the trek up to Lawrence, Kansas to see our alma mater play in the Final Four (GO Jayhawks!). It was an incredible experience to watch us win and are now playing in the national championship!

This video I took just seconds after KU won, running outside the Wheel/Hawk/Bull!

When we won, here is video I shot with my iPhone of what it was like inside the historic and legendary Wagon Wheel bar in Lawrence, KS

And this is just a glimpse of how crazy Massachusetts street was a few minutes after the game:

The iPod of Thermostats: the Nest- a demo and install!

Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Wednesday, March 21st, 2012 - 10:17 pm

My friend Matt gave me a demo of the hot-n-popular (and backordered) Nest Thermostat. It’s a “smart learning” thermostat that helps you save energy, schedule temperature changes remotely, and control it with your iPad and iPhone (and a lot of other really cool things!). Check out the video blog demo I shot of the install process.

2-minute short and sweet review of the iPad 3

Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Sunday, March 18th, 2012 - 11:17 pm

Ok- so, since you’ve probably already seen elevendy reviews on the new iPad already, i made my review for the iPad short and sweet. I gave my thoughts and review as quick as I possibly could my iPad 3 video blog <– which is hard because this is the best tablet on the market!

MYTH BUSTING: iPhone 4G, is it really faster than iPhone 3G?

Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Thursday, March 15th, 2012 - 9:35 am

Have you ran the update on your iPhone yet? Have you noticed that your phone says 4G now instead of 3G? (for AT&T phones) So… does this mean your phone is faster?

I ran speed tests to see if the new Apple iOS update to 5.1 from 5.0.1 on AT&T and Verizon is really FASTER than with the 4G icon and symbol. Watch the video blog I shot to find out… :)

Notice I moved the Phone app? :) Surprisingly, I use it less than Email. How about you? Are you using your smartphone more as a computer than you are an actual phone? #showmeYOURhomescreen!!!

Justin Bieber uses Twitter better than me [INFOGRAPHIC]

marketing and business,social media tips — ramseymohsen @ Monday, March 12th, 2012 - 11:42 am

There’s something to be said about the trend over the recent years about the usage of infographics. You’ve probably seen many online (but may not have been aware they’re called infographics). This design trend is a great way to convey complex data information clearly and concisely. Let’s be real- data and numbers for most people isn’t exactly sexy and interesting.

Visual.ly is trying very hard to become the homebase and repository to all things infographics. They have over 10,000 in their database and average over 2 million visits per month.  Today, they released a “Create” section where you can choose from different themes and data sources to dynamically make an infographic (right now it’s just Facebook and Twitter). It appears they’ll be building out this feature on the site for customization and different types to choose from. Right now they have these auto-generated themes you can choose from:

…just for fun- I did a comparison of Justin Bieber and my twitter account using the Twitter Showdown template :)

waterproof + $99 + shock resistant = Samsung Rugby Smart

tech news & insight,Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 - 9:22 am

AT&T gave me the new Samsung Rugby Smart to demo. It’s simple, basic, and WATERPROOF! (plus+ it’s shock resistant <– i had fun throwing the phone against the floor and the wall and it still worked!)

This phone seems to be a great option for anyone who just wants a simple, tough and durable phone. And it’s only $99 with a two-year commitment and monthly minimum data plan. Parents with kids could really find this phone appealing :)

tech news & insight,Video Blog — ramseymohsen @ Monday, March 5th, 2012 - 12:25 am

Smartphones continue to get bigger (first, I thought the Galaxy Nexus was big). Now- check this thing out. AT&T gave me the new Samsung Galaxy Note to demo. AND IT IS HUGE! Watch my vblog so you can see how it compares in size to the iPhone and the iPad.

Is this a tablet?

Or is this a phone?

Would you buy this? (if you can’t see the video below, click here)
